Chance Mwangomba

I am very grateful to my friend Peter for recognizing the work I did when he was doing his documentation in Malawi. I am studying theology currently at the University of Livingstonia (in Mzuzu). I am the Theological Student representative to the student body.   I am also the University Music director. The great interest so far is in doing cultural music which with support from friends here, is in the move. The college am at is situated 20km north of the city of Mzuzu along the main road to Karonga. Too much of everything is poisonous. You will get to learn more of me and Mzuzu (the) city and possibly about Unilia (University of  Livingstonia) in the next document. For the moment you are free to comment on what you would think i should be enlightening you with from this side of life. You can notify Peter or myself. Your newly introduced pal,
Chance Mwangomba.

Hello,

Chance again.  I just briefly introduced myself in the last document and I would like to tell you  more about myself.

I was born at St Johns hospital situated east of Mzuzu City.   Our family used to live at the location called Masasa in the same city. Later we moved to Chibavi township in Mzuzu.   Some Grasss-thached huts were constructed by my family , which exist even today. My parents sent me to Katoto Primary School and later I was selected to go to Katoto Secondary School.  The schools are in the core of the City along Main Road 1, as we go to south (towards Lilongwe the Capital City). For me to be who I am today, my mother used to brew beer known as Kachaso. This is a strong spirit gin that most poor people take as beer.   In school I did well and passed with flying  coulors  but with empty stomach in most cases.  Life is tough and soft to many, with me , I am yet to  choose which side I belong to.  When i was introduced to Sunday school,  I realized that i could do most of the things that other people do. Singing came to be my most favorite career  things.   Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango recognized  my talent for singing and as an asset to the church. He picked me to sing with him in the bigger Choir that he was leading,  representing the Synod of Livingstonia. With the Choir, I have done many shows singing on the National Day Of  Worship, traveled in and outside Malawi with the help of sponsorship and of well wishers.   I also am a composer (of songs).   The songs for the CrossMerodies Choir recorded by my friend Peter when I was very active with the group. I ask you to listen to them on www.voicesformalawi.com and leave your comments or ideas.   What Peter recorded that day was was the first recording of me to be heard by you.
